    Scoring question for everyone....

Billy Hamilton had a hit last inning. He overslid second base and was tagged out on the other side of the bag. He would have been safe had he not overslid the bag. He was credited with a single. I always thought he would have been awarded a double. Anyone have an explanation?

Mudcats start the second half off the the way they ended the first half, losing.

Tennessee 4 to 3 over Carolina. Klinker was strong as usual but Lee Tabor wasn't much in relief.

I thought so too. As long as he touched the second base bag it should have been ruled a double.

Depends on whether he reached second base safely. If he did, then overslid, he ought to be given a double.

    Bray (S, 1) 1.0	0	0	0	0	2	0	0.00
Reineke continues to be very impressive in the starter's role. He's not a strikeout guy but he's very good at keeping batters off balance. Tonight he pitched to one batter in the 9th and was pulled for Bray with only 85 pitches thrown.

Any way Reineke could become a serviceable member of the bullpen?

I know BA do not mean as much as OBP...but good grief.....the 2 guys who are clearly hitting over .300...are batting at the bottom 2....while 2 guys barely hitting over .260.

I'm not worried about results right now, I'm just happy to see Lotzkar and Hildenbrandt healthy again.

By rule, an out on an overslide would be scored as he he never reached the base. Most common place you see this is on a stolen base attempt. If he rounded the bag and then got tagged out trying to get back, he is credited with the base.

Klinker pitches well for Carolina: 6IP 4H 1R 1BB 2K. Bullpen comes on and gives up 3R in 2IP to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Sound familiar?
