Dickerson is no longer on a rehab assignment at Louisville. He's back in Cincy for testing/observation.

Carolina is out to a quick 1-0 lead after singles by Sappelt and Negron are followed by a walk of Sean Henry and an RBI groundout by Eric Eymann.

Sometimes I really wonder why managers fill out the lineups that they do. In Lynchburg today, Cody Puckett and his .522 SLG is in the leadoff spot, while Jose Gualdron and his sub .400 SLG is batting 3rd.

I always figure it along the lines of the fact that it isn't necessarily a minor league manager's job to win games.

Cisco walks and Hanigan hits into a DP.

    2-0 Hens after 2

So Mes goes into play tonite with an .804 OPS so far at AA? Good news. If he can keep it above .800 the rest of the season, at that level, that really will be a great development. He remains the nicest surprise of the minor leagues for me this season.

Yeah, though I would like to see him get to .800 in a more conventional way. Of course his time in AA is extremely limited, so I am not placing much on what he has done so far. Unfortunately, he isn't in the line up tonight.

Jordan Hotchkiss hasn't allowed anything through 2 for Lynchburg and has 2 strikeouts. Sidenote: It is 97 degrees in Kinston right now.

    5-3 groundout

That could have been a lot worse.
