Whats scary about Cabrera is that hes striking out a ton right now. Thats a terrible sign given his career.

I'd rather him struck out than make a weak first pitch out like he just did. And on the heels of Phillips making the guy work for seven or eight pitches.

Current Half Inning (last play on top)

    Votto struck out swinging.
    Cabrera grounded out to shortstop.
    Phillips grounded out to second.

Im trying to point out that his struggles go even farther than just not hitting. There is more than just a slump right now. He's looking completely different at the plate than he should even if he was slumping.

What are the odds that the REDS would give Baker a different .300 OBP guy three years in a row that he could fall in love with and bat at the top of the order, virtually ensuring Joey Votto's chances of never winning an RBI-Title?

We had our winning ways when top two hitters were getting on-base.

Somehow, Dusty doesn't associate "getting on base" with scoring runs and winning ballgames.

Strasburg gave up two first-inning hits (Melky Cabrera and McCann) and a hard-hit ball to Chipper Jones for an out. Cabrera, who doubled, was thrown out at home trying to score on McCann's single. Atlanta putting some good swings on the ball against him.

Last time I checked Cabrera was something like 7th on the team in Runs Scored. What a thought.

Where Phillips is 1st in the Majors. The opportunity for scoring runs is there if you just put someone up there who can get on base.

Okay. Gotta admit I like the new Randy Johnson snowball Geico commercial. Funny stuff.
