    Bailey out until August....

From Rotoworld via The Enquirer w/ Rotoworld comments:

Throwing for the first time in two weeks, Homer Bailey (shoulder) completed two sets of 15 pitches off of flat ground today.

"The set was a little awkward," he said. "The second set was much better. It was a night and day difference." Bailey is at least four weeks away from rejoining the Reds.

Dickerson to be out for quite a while, too....

Per Rotoworld via the Enquirer w/ Rotoworld comments:

Chris Dickerson received a cortisone shot Sunday to relieve soreness in his right wrist.

Dickerson suffered a broken hamate bone at the end of April. He was slated to begin a rehab assignment last week, but he couldn't because of lingering soreness. He's out indefinitely.

Dickerson's Reds' career is over. Too many better options and he's injury prone. Might as well pursue his commentator job. He was pretty good when he sat in the booth on Fox Sports.

I hate to say it, but I hope you're right. Although, he'll probably be one of those guys that goes on and does great with another team.

I also enjoyed listening to him in the booth. Thought he did a great job.

Do they even have a diagnosis on Homer? Or is it just an undefined shoulder injury? This year has been incredibly frustrating (for him and Reds fans alike) after seeing him perform so well down the stretch in 2009.
"He looked like a surfer kid from SoCal," manager Dusty Baker says. "He didn't say much, but you could tell he was cool."

Yes. Truly didn't see this coming. Expected the complete opposite.

Least he's young. Homer still has plenty of time for a great career - hopefully in Cincy.

I was hoping for him to return and pitch decent enough we could package him in trade.

I'm more interested in keeping Cueto, Leake, Volquez, and Wood.

    Re: Bailey out until August....

I just don't think Homer Bailey will ever be an important part of this Reds team that has really gelled this year. I think it goes back to Cueto making the team and Homer didn't. Johnny has been able to use the last two years to make him a better pitcher, learning on the job, while Bailey's stubborness early on forced him to the minors.

I think Homer will have an average career, and I wish him the best. But it hasn't ever felt like this is "home" for Homer. I hope he pitches well the rest of the year, so we can trade him over the offseason.

I don't see Bailey as a fixture in Cincinnati either.

I honestly don't like the guy.
