7/1/10, Reds at Cubs - Travis Wood's Debut

    Reds
    Phillips, 2B
    Cabrera, SS
    Votto, 1B
    Rolen, 3B
    Gomes, LF
    Bruce, RF
    Stubbs, CF
    Miller, CA
    Wood LHP
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Sure would be nice to see Bruce and his .355 OBP moved higher up in the order. Just flip him and Cabrera and I'd be happy(er).

When you only have two lefty bats in the lineup, it would be unusual to hit them back-to-back. I wouldn't do it.

Against a righty starter, I might flip Bruce and Gomes. I might hit Bruce fifth and Gomes sixth.

Otherwise, I'm fine with this lineup, given the Reds' hitters.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

Probably no PBP for me today, though I may check in periodically, and could do inning summaries.

BTW, I'm only a Reds fan of 2 years, who was the last lefty starter they had for a significant length of time? I believe we had someone named Brandon Claussen who was a lefty, was he the most recent? And yes, I know Adam Pettyjohn started the last game of '08, and Daryl Thompson (What's he up too, BTW) started maybe a couple, but I mean for a significant portion of a season, at least.

Maloney for a bit last year. The last true starter was most likely...

ok everyone, deep breath, close your ears so only 320 can hear this....

    *whispers* Eric Milton

Edit: Thompson is a righty, btw. Hes on a rehab assignment in Goodyear. Always injured.

Quoting myself here since I seem to be the only one who paid attention the other night, LOL

ALL the games during the Cubs series will be on FSN Ohio this week.

Forgot about Maloney. I've heard a lot about this "Eric Milton" fellow. Was he just total crap that we kept trotting out there or something?
