I'm not upset at Rhodes, this was going to happen.

But Stubbs is overrated as defender. He's not horrible, but he's not great either. Especially when you consider his ability (or lack there of) as a hitter.

9-6 Phillies as Hernandez can't hold on to the throw on the squeeze play.

Now they had a DP but the throw from Hernandez to Cabrera is in the dirt and the runner is safe at 2nd.

Cabrera could have had him easily if he had come off the bag to field the throw and just kept it in front of him.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I doubt Heisey would have been close to that ball. It's disappointing that Stubbs didn't hang on but there's not but a few CF's in the majors that even get there.
School's out. What did you expect?

Oh, he would have at least been close to it. And I bet he would have caught it and wouldn't have been afraid of hitting a padded wall that he wasn't even that close to. Oh well, Stubbs is a former first-round pick and Heisey was a late-rounder. It really is that simple for me. One guy is clearly better than the other overall.

Nix strikes out swinging. Reds lose 9-6 and will probably drop to 2nd as the Cards are beating up the Dbacks
