I was hoping to see Heisey out there again. I can't remember the last time Laynce had a big hit.

    yes 4th game.

not to pile on Nix, but his OPS this year against righties is below .700

Gomes and Heiseys are both higher. Its sample size but its not like Nix has crushed RH pitching the last 3 years.
    .758 OPS

    300 AB .236/.287/.471

    Actually Gomes is higher.
    Sheesh.

Remember, though, Johnny's start against Wells in Chicago looked like the surest win and it was the only game we lost against the Cubs. For a successful series against the Phillies, this is a game that we probably need to win.

I'm all for sitting Gomes down, but I think Heisey should be playing. He's the guy with the future (no offense to Nix) and he's also played pretty well when given his chances. Laynce is what he is right now. A mop-up guy or a pinch hitter.

Putting all 3 lefties at 3,5,6 doesn't make much sense. Why not flip Stubbs and Nix?

    Hernandez update!

Ramon Hernandez is improved, trainer Paul Lessard said. They are hopeful he can start tomorrow. He is available tonight. - jfay

No reason to play Hernandez with the All Star break on the horizon fellas. Give the guy a little extra rest and let Corky do his thing behind the plate.

I hope Votto blasts a HR in the 1st and gives Manuel a glance as he rounds the bases.
