We are pretenders and I'm tired of living in denial, its not just a river in Egypt. Last night's loss was too much for me to take, twice in a season now we've had to experience this, can't we cut our losses with this fatass so called closer we have?

I can't see how we will rebound after this...I really think this is the beginning of the end for our run, sure we may finish with a winning record, but whoopty doo when we could win the division.

Way to have faith. If you had been told at the start of the season that the Reds would be in first place by one game at the All-Star break - you and everyone else would have taken it.

We can get into the semantics of :yeah the lead could be bigger." But, honestly, the Reds have won as many that they should have lost, remember all the comeback, last at-bat victories. They have answered every challenge to this point of the season and there is really no reason to think that that will not continue.

It's a rough patch right now, no question, but the Reds are playing better than most, if not all, people imagined and that is the reason to be optimistic, not fatalistic.

This Reds teams is in great position. Their 2nd half schedule is easy. They made it through the toughest part of their schedule and fought hard even getting swept by the Phillies. All 4 games were decided by one run/extra innings.

Win or lose, at least the Reds matter now. Votto is leading the NL in OPS. Leake and Wood are looking like potential TOR starters. Phillips is having a career year. Rolen is having an Allstar year. Cueto is having a great year under the radar. Bruce is more or less where you would hope for after having a terrible start. Volquez is set to return. Chapman is in the wings.

How long has it been since the Reds had that much to get excited about?
