Just get out of Philly, regardless of tomorrow the Reds will be in sole possession of first place at the All Star Break. It could be much, much worse.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

I also hate the AS game and the AS break. It's tradition I know, but it should have no bearing on how a team plays close to it. I don't have the statistics handy, but I'd guess the Reds have had more than a few meltdowns just before the mid-season classic.

    I hate losing.

But seeing things like a ridiculous gem by Wood, and more stellar stuff from Bray.....I'm confident the 2nd half will see the Reds find another gear and put the Cards away pretty quickly.

After the last 3 games, I'm not sure I can blame them for what they'll say, 1st place or not.

Anyone know how many runners Ondrusek has allowed to score after coming in with runners on?

Travis Wood looks devastated. As he should. This is a sad situation.

I couldn't agree more. I'm bummed that we lost...but I just told my wife, that was a helluva game to watch. Totally a playoff atmosphere. Great strategy, FANTASTIC pitching, nice execution all around. I can't even get on the hitters in this one, when we had chances to score...it was simply great pitching that got out of it...not bad at bats. Great, great game.

I'd bet it's many, but I don't even know where to find that information,

We need to replace 2/3 of that bullpen.

10.2 consecutive scoreless innings coming into tonight...ZERO hits allowed in his last 5 outings. ~from Philly announcers

They are 5-5 in the last 10 games and have lost the last three in extra innings. It's far from a meltdown. Not to shabby considering they have played the 3 top payroll teams in the NL.

Only problem with that stat is it doesn't say anything about inherited runners. Maybe he didn't allow any to score, but who knows. I hate it for Wood and Bray. They pitched well.

This series has sucked, but I'm not going to panic. If we win tomorrow we'll be 10 over and at least two games up on the Cardinals going to the break.

We just need to GTFO of Philly.

I'm sor confused. I though the veteran leadership of Cabrera was teaching us how to win. I guess we don't know how to any more...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
