There's no point in talking to this guy or using normal reason. I had this battle with him about a year and a half ago. He uses the exact same lines. I think he just copies and pastes them.

Is there any reason to cry so much about Homer Bailey? I mean really, if you ask me, he's been a bust. Everytime someone says Homer, I'm coming back with Cueto, Wood and Leake. All same age or younger, who put the work in or had the right attitude to continually get better. With Homer it's always someone else's fault that he's not successful. Maybe not in Homers mind, but certainly in GIDP's mind.

You just continue to keep missing the point, and I've explained it several times.

I understand the point, I'm just saying McCoy's intention there was to take shots and his basis for it was nothing other than to take shots.

not going to argue posts about Hal not liking Homer....for every article Hal wrote bashing Homer into the ground...he later wrote another one saying how much more mature Homer was and how he has changed....Hal might not be the most liked reporter, but most HOF'ers are not well liked.....they get to that point because they tell the truth, they tell it like it is regardless of who they are writing about....hence the bashing one year, and the accolades the following year.

That's not it at all. McCoy was adamant about his contempt for Homer Bailey.

Hal McCoy is senile, and has been for a few years now. He's not the same Hal McCoy that made him a HOF writer. I liked him a lot until a few years ago. Like a former Senator from South Carolina, he stayed too long in his job.

You can add West Virginia and Massachusetts to that list of Senators as well.

And, every time I hear someone complain about Homer Bailey, I always come back with.... "try to quit seeing the world in black and white....99.9999% of the world is full of shades of gray....Homer will become what he becomes and part of that Homer Bailey will be a contributor to winning REDS' baseball....quit thinking of him as a #1 Draft pick because he's just another pitcher who's very young and has already earned himself several starts in the Majors....Homer Bailey has improved every season during his career and to expect anything more than that....well, you'll learn more when you have had children for 15 years".

My issue wasnt that McCoy pointed out that Bailey was maybe a little hardheaded, its the way he did it and how spiteful and childish it was. Not to mention completely pointless considering he was comparing Bailey to position players with completely different paths to the majors.

You can rip a player, but doing it that way makes me lose respect for the writer.
