Sometimes the numbers do tell the story. He was pitching better after his demotion to Lynchburg; but not better enough, I guess.

Thanks, '72. It's a shame things didn't work out for Watson. Things looked very promising for him early in his career.

Is there any word on Terrell Young? The Reds supposedly paid $25,000 to bring him back to the organization, and I believe he was assigned to Billings before their season started, but we haven't heard of him doing anything since then. I know he has dealt with a shoulder injury, so maybe that's related to why we haven't seen him.

The first true bust of the Buckley era.

I'd like to see Junior Arias in Billings soon.

I thought that was scratched because the Nats offered him back and he was injured. Basically the Nats were trying to skip out on paying an injured guy.

Can I ask what about Junior Arias's plate discipline says he should sniff the Pioneer League this season?

That brings up a question I have for the zone. Is plate discipline emphasized equally throughout the minors, or, does it tend to take a back seat to aggressiveness and work on the swing at the lower levels?

It was in the first attempt (back in May or so of 2009), but in the off-season (somewhat close to opening day iIrc), he was offered back to the Reds again, and they accepted.

Plate discipline is less than critical when you're OPSing > 1.000 (with an OBP > .400).

Except when it says you won't continue to do that and that pitchers are doing a good job of fooling you quite often at the lowest level. He might punish mistakes, but he is abolsutely being fooled often right now.

If batting .372 is "abolsutely (sic) being fooled right now" then I hope the Reds can assemble a team of morons.

Except that over the long haul, there is no way he can sustain anything close to that with 7-8 times more strikeouts than walks. And when you are striking out 7-8 times more than you walk, you are absolutely being fooled.
