Coming into today, Alonso's slash line:

    .279/.321/.410 for a .731 OPS.

Not where we want it for AAA but it is trending in the right direction.

Coming into today, Juan's slash line:

    .278/.315/.538 for a .853 OPS.

Coming into today, Cozart's slash line:

    .265/.330/.450 for a .780 OPS.

Those three along with Dorn (awesome split against RHers) are the three position players most likely able to help the Reds down the stretch if need be, is my view.

FWIW, today Felix Perez is in LF for Carolina and Dave Sappelt is in CF. Since Perez arrived there, it's mostly been the other way around. And Sean Henry is in RF, which makes for a darn good AA outfield. All three had hits in the first inning, and Tom Cochran leads 1-0 after three.

Carolina squandering chances all over the place, just came up with nothing from a bases loaded one out situation.

    Down 2-1 after five.

No Mes today, Perez has two hits and has scored the lone Mudcat run. Sappelt also has two hits.

With two outs in the 6th , Dorn walks, Valaika double him in to tie the game, and Denove singles in Valaika to give the Bats a 3 - 2 lead.

Edit: And after a pitching change, a pinch hit home run with Michael Griffin! 5 - 2 Bats!!

Man, Carolina struggles. Down 3-1, with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Luis Terrero, pinch-hitting, singles to left. But only one run scores. Sappelt, who is very fast, held at third. And Yarbrough struck out. So they're still down, 3-2.

Michael Griffin goes back-to-back with Denove

    8-3 Bats

Griffin has come out of nowhere to be a very solid contributor to the Bats.

Michael Griffin goes back-to-back with Denove. All three of their combined AAA home runs this year have come in this game!
