Tanner Robles came into the game with a 7.71 ERA but is pitching lights-out tonight.

It is hard to tell on GameDay because you don't know where the catcher is setting up, but his pitch location looked alright to me.

Chapman's night is done. Springer on. Russ not Jerry or Spaniel.

Okay Springer walks the first batter who then steals second. Down four in the 9th do you really want to risk getting caught stealing? Fly ball to left one down. Ground out to Alonso. Runner on 3rd, two down.

Dickerson is ready, get him to the show before he gets hurt! Also, I wonder if any teams would be interested in Wlad as a 2nd or 3rd piece for a trade, he's been very productive lately.

Springer Ks someone for the final out. Bats win 11-7. Springer threw 17 pitches, 10 strikes. He walked the first batter on four straight and after that he pretty much pounded the strike zone.

Robles is through for the night. Daniel Wolford on and picking up where Robles left off.
2 IP 0 H 0 R 1 BB 4 K. On the year now Wolford has 21 Ks in 14.2 IP. He had a rough first two outings but has come back strong. In his last 5 appearances he has 10.2 IP 4 H 0 R 5 BB 16 K. He is from Cal-Berkeley and likes tie-dyed tee shirts and mushroom pizza. Well mushroom anything really.

I thought Carolina was off tonight, then I looked and saw that it was yesterday.

Anybody know if you can find BABIP for minor leaguers? Balentien's has to be ridiculously low for him to be batting like .230 with just a 16% SO rate and an ISO north of .200.

edit: And I just did the math -- it's at .218 coming into tonight. Either he's been hitting boatloads of fly balls or he's been getting very unlucky -- or maybe a bit of both. Add 40 points to each of those slash stat lines and you're looking a much more productive player.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Chapman has a .170 BAA and 20 K in 12 IP as a reliever.

Anyone know what role Owings will have for the Bats?
I think it's almost time to see if Micah wants to hit full-time.
