Newsman Daniel Schorr dies, age 93

Longtime news reporter, Daniel Schorr died today at age 93. He began his career following World War II, becoming one of the famed "Murrow boys" in the early 50's. He was honored to be on Richard Nixon's enemy list. He covered a considerable number of major news stories in the latter half of the 20th century. Mostly recently, he was a news analyst on NPR.

Here's a piece written by NPR's Scott Simon who worked with Schorr every Saturday morning on Weekend Edition:

You probably did. He was on July 10th discussing the spy swap. I heard it too.

People like him made this country better by exposing truly dangerous and tyrannical people without being sensational yet without pulling any punches.

How, then, are those people of the future—who are taking steroids every day—going to look back on baseball players who used steroids? They're going to look back on them as pioneers. They're going to look back at it and say "So what?" - Bill James, Cooperstown and the 'Roids
