Nothing against Jon Adkins, but the Bats (3-2 winners) are seeing what a huge difference it makes when the back end of the bullpen locks it down. Tonight, it was Springer, who has been fairly spotless, and Burton, who's really coming around . . And of course, a very nice start from Maloney.

Nice to see Curtis Partch turn in a great start. He kind of needed it. Lynchburg won 3-0. Soto finished 3 for 4, and Denis Phipps was also 3 for 4, all doubles.

Bats won 3-2. I personally witnessed Juan Francisco take a walk...it can happen!

AZL Reds are hitless after 3 1/2 but still lead 1-0. A walk, a hit by pitch, an error and a wild pitch. Minor League baseball is always an adventure.

Tucker Barnhart is having a nice little year. He's 2 for 2 tonight to take his average to .306 and his OBP over .400. Billings is tied 4-4 after seven.

AZL Reds starter Radhames Quezada threw five no-hit innings tonight with 1 walk and 8 K. It was his second appearance after being moved from the DSL Reds. The Goodyears lead 1-0 after seven.

Went to Dragons game tonight. Will post more tomorrow. They really only put four guys with potential on the field tonight. That team is a collection of mismatched parts.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.

Don't know where he's been, but Luca Panerati, the lefty from Italy, made his first appearance of the year tonight for the AZL Reds. He threw one perfect inning with 2 K.

Also, Wes Mugarian, the 5th-rounder this year out of high school in Pensacola, Fla., made his professional debut, I think. His line matched Panerati's, plus a walk.

Reds pitchers have 14 K in that game, through eight innings.

In a 4-4 game, Porfirio Martinez pitched the top of the 9th for Billings. With no outs and runners on second and third, he went K, K, fly to Duran in left.

In the bottom of the ninth, the AZL Reds lost both the no-hitter and the lead. It's 1-1 with the inning still going. Patrick Quinn pitching. Is that yet another professional debut? I believe so. And it's an awfully tough one, in that situation. He's the 46th-round draft choice from a Florida JC.

Update: The AZL Reds lost it in the bottom of the 9th, 2-1.

And Billings loses 5-4 in 10. In the top of the inning, manager Delino DeShields and pitching coach Bob Forsch were both ejected.
