Monday, July 26, 2010, Minor League Updates

Stop me if you have heard this one before. Ronald Torreyes with two more knocks as the VSL Reds romp 10-5. Torreyes pushed his average up to a crisp .400 going 2 for 4 on the day. He had a single, double, knocked in a run and scored three. He stole two bases just because. He is OPSing an eerie 1.111 on the season. His last 10 games he has posted this slash line: .471/.587/.676/1.263.

And the thing is, he was leading the league in just about everything before those last ten games.

What position does he project at later on once he puts on some weight to his frame?

I'm dying to see that kid brought to the AZL so we can get some kind of a concrete scouting report on him. Having him put up those numbers in the VSL is great but its frustrating not knowing anything more than just the numbers.
"He looked like a surfer kid from SoCal," manager Dusty Baker says. "He didn't say much, but you could tell he was cool."

The DSL Reds won today 4-3. The DSL Orioles came back to tie the game in the 7th, but the Reds regained the lead in the 8th on an Orioles error. The 6'4" Beard had another good start. Carlos Ramos is now fourth in the league in saves.

I am at the Dragons game right now. Homer looking good right now. Sitting at 93-94 on the stadium gun mixing in change ups and curveballs. Eric Davis is chilling in the Dragons dugout right now wearing a 44 Davis Reds' jersey. No Henry Rodriguez for the Dragons tonight.

Lynchburg led off their game against the Frederick Keys with five runs. Neftali Soto hit a three-run homer (#15), and Chris Richburg hit a two-run shot for his first homerun as a Hillcat. James Avery has thrown two shutout innings so far.
5-0 Hillcats in the top of the third
