For the life of me, I don't get sitting Stubbs (.812 OPS vs LHP), and starting Bruce (.700 OPS vs. LHP). If it were me, I'd start Heisey over Bruce, not Stubbs vs a LHP. I know Stubbs could use a day off, but I say let him hit vs. the lefty.

Stubbs is in a major funk. I like sitting him today, letting him focus solely on what Dusty and Jacoby are saying and implementing it in BP and maybe in the cage. Use tomorrow to clear his head and be ready for Friday. Atlanta is a huge series.

Bruce, OTOH, needs to learn how to hit lefties. The only way he can possibly do that is to keep getting ABs against lefties.

That's interesting, I had to look it up.

    Bruce BA vs. LHP:
    2008: .190 (152 PA)
    2009: .210 (116 PA)
    2010: .248 (130 PA)

Looks like he's improving. Agreed that he should get continued looks against LHP.

Bruce sat against Wandy on Sunday, and I don't think Dusty wants to make it seem like he's starting to platoon him.

Besides, Stubbs has been scuffling lately.

It would be nice to score a few runs for Travis Wood this afternoon.

I'm very interested in Travis Wood's next start. He gets the Cubs for the Second time. Travis has shown through his Minor League Career that he does pretty well the second or third time through a teams lineup. I'm curious if the trend continues. If so, wow. We have something here.

Quoted for truth. Poor guy won't know what to do if the other guys actually score some runs for him today, LOL
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

He still is wondering what a run is. Reds go down in order in the 1st.

    Phillips grounds out to short.
    Cabrera flies out to right.
    Votto K's on 3 pitches.
