Tuesday July 27, 2010 Minor League Updates

    Knights @ Bats

    Dickerson CF
    Cozart SS
    Alonso 1B
    Frazier LF
    Francisco 3B
    Balentien RF
    Dorn DH
    Valaika 2B
    Castillo C
    Jukich P

Looks like they're just skipping over LeCure.

Oh, BTW, last nights game was canceled, not postponed. It won't be made up.

Any chance Balentien can make it back up to the bigs? I know his AVG is low, but he can flat out rake.

Lynchburg Hillcats @ Frederick Keys again.

    Fellhauer LF
    Greene SS
    Soto 1B
    Phipps CF
    Richburg DH
    Day RF
    Coddington C
    Gualdron 3B
    Carlson, S 2B

Chase Ware is pitching for the 'Cats. Ryan Berry is pitching for the Keys. I love his profile pic.

The Hillcats are down 2-1 in the bottom of the second. Nefi Soto singled and scored on a throwing error on a play in which Chris Richburg hit an infield single.

I'd be surprised if he went the rest of his career without being given another chance in the major leagues. He has serious power, and for a corner outfielder, his defense is pretty good. If the Reds didn't have so much outfield depth (Gomes, Nix, Heisey, Dickerson), I think he'd be up with the team right now.

VSL Reds take the first game of a double dip with the VSL Phillies by a score of 7-5. Torreyes, playing short, went 3-3, raising his average to .408. He smoked three line drives - two singles and a triple.

Charlotte tied the game on a grand slam, but in the bottom of the fourth, the Bats regained the lead on a Chris Dickerson homerun. 6-5 Bats in the fifth.

Lynchburg had the bases loaded with no one out in the third, but they only got one run out of it. However, they got three more in the fourth and now lead 5-2 in the fifth.

I know this isnt the right spot for this...but am I the only one who thinks Dickerson and Nix should be swapping spots?

You're definitely not the only one. There are only two reasons to like Nix more than Dickerson. Nix is better at staying healthy, and he is slightly more power potential. Other than that, I'm not sure I'd even want Nix on the 25-man roster at all.

VSL Reds take the second game as well by a score of 6-4. Torreyes goes 2 for 3 with a sac fly. He scored two and drove in two. He is now up to .412. While not goofing off he found time to steal 3 bases. He is playing SS, btw, and Valor is playing 2B.

BTW, in over 250 PA he has struck out just 9 times. Did Jim Coombs ever vacation in Venezuela?

Louisville just crushing the ball in July.

Seems like most of the team is OPS-ing over 1.000.
