Happy 68th birthday to Marty Brennaman

He's been the voice of the Reds to so many now for 36 years. Sometimes I think we take for granted just how great of a broadcaster we've had the pleasure to listen to for most of our lives. Thanks for all the memories, especially those late night west coast road trips through my junior high and high school years. Happy birthday Marty!
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Agreed. I love Marty because he's like me. Sometimes flawed with his analysis but a diehard Reds fan.. Also calls the game like no other, IMO.

There are plenty of other threads were Marty is bashed. Hopefully this one can stay positive.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Happy birthday to the man that, along with the late Joe Nuxhall, IS Reds baseball to much of the country.

Marty seems like a good man. I wonder if he'll ever retire.

I still remember when he came to the Reds to replace the "immortal" Al Michaels. Really bummed that we were losing Al for some unknown named who again?

You've come a long way Marty. Happy Birthday.

I remember it too. I was just about 10 when he came to the Reds. News traveled slow in those days. Especially in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. I didn't know the Reds had changed announcers. When I turned on the first exhibition game of the season I thought the PBP voice was different and after a while it was acknowledged who the new guy was. Never heard of him of course but he seemed to step righ in from the start and didn't seem to miss Al Michaels one bit. He's a Reds institution now and I hope he keeps broadcasting games as long as he is able. He's one of the few things with a connection to my childhood that is still around.
    Happy Birthday!!

Marty's awesome. One of the very best broadcasters ever, IMO.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
