I would move Votto to LF, Alonso to 1st

Most people seem to think this is impossible, that you don't ask Votto to do this. I'd ask him at least, and if he says no, I'd start working Alonso out hard in LF.

That's too bad. It thought it was a good pickup at the time.
    Maybe his mono flared up.

I'd think Votto would too. It's up to Alonso, in a way, to make it clear that getting his bat into the lineup is key. I think he's in the process of doing that now.

I think we're assuming that they HAVEN'T asked him. Who's to say that they haven't already?

I'm personally against the idea. If Yonder can't hack it on a position other than 1b...he's trade bait IMO.

I think RZ will end up lamenting a trade of Yonder Alonso. Watch him hit.

Hard to lament a trade when the guy who is position-blocking Alonso is a legitimate MVP candidate.

Yeah. I love what Alonso brings to the table. The guy, when healthy, can absolutely rake. He is a pure hitter. But for the next three years, he isn't beating out Votto unless Votto gets seriously hurt and teams can't really plan on that. I would still like to see a little more of him in left field because of his bat, but if the Reds do trade him, it isn't like they are playing Scott Hatteberg at first right now.
