Monday August 2nd minor league updates

Billy Hamilton continues to amaze. 2-for-2 with a triple and his 20th stolen base.

    Tanner Robles: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K

What in the world? After 10 pm and there's only one post on the minor-league game thread? Everybody must have been captivated by Travis Wood. Man, what's not to love about that guy? Among other things, I don't believe I've ever seen a pitcher topple over the rail of the dugout chasing a fly ball.

    But I digress . . .

The Dragons broke their infinity losing streak. 2-1 over the hapless White Caps. Shunick pitched well in his debut, Didi, Rodriguez, and LaMarre with the runs and RBI's.

Three nice young pitching prospects did well today as the DSL Reds won, 7-5, moving 9 games over .500 at 30-21. (The fourth pitcher allowed three of the runs in 1/3 of an inning.)

    Wandy Peralta (19, LH): 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K . . . ERA 2.80
    Jose Guzman (18, RH): 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K . . . ERA 2.27
    Carlos Ramos (19, RH): 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K . . . ERA 0.38

Shunick is impressing. Also, two great innings of closing relief from Doug Salinas: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K.

Henry Rodriguez had a game-tying HR in the seventh.

The VSL Reds won 7-6 in 10, but Ronald Torreyes is now officially slumping. He followed his 0 for 4 with a 1 for 4 (albeit with two walks), plummeting all the way down to .400.

Yea he is. Dunno if he's a "prospect" though. He could get lost in the fold but you can't ignore his numbers this year.
