With there being on average about 52-54 games left to be played over the rest of the season, here is where we stand:

Yankees/Rays - 67 - 40
White Sox - 61-46
Rangers - 62-45

Braves 61-46
Reds - 61-48
Padres - 62-44

Then you have:

Red Sox - 61-47
Twins - 60-48
Phillies - 59-48
Cards - 60 - 48
Giants - 62- 46


So who wins their divisions? Who takes the Wild Cards? Right now are the Rays and Yankees the best teams in baseball? If asked how would you rank these 12 teams from 1 - 12.

As for the Reds, they sit at 61 wins. how many wins total will it take to win this division? Over the remaining 53 games, which games scream MUST WINS? What part of the remaning schedule scares you?

32 more wins should win the division. That would give the Reds and the Cardinals 94 at least. .600 ball for the rest of the year. I dont know if many other teams in the NL are going to win many more than 94 games this year.

29 wins is probably the least amount of wins to take the division. That would be .550 ball which is basically in line with the current winning percentages.

Yankees, Twins, Rangers and Tampa Bay make the playoffs in the A.L.

Philadelphia, Cincinnati, San Diego and St. Louis make the playoffs in the N.L.

San Francisco might jump up a bit. I just think they have been so hot for so long that they are bound to fall off a little. They could go either way IMO.

The thing is with the NL central only being a 2 horse race, you really have no idea how many wins it will take.

Could the cards win 93-94? Probably.

Could they also go on a bad losing streak and end up only winning like 85 games? Possible as well.

I like this scenario better then being in the NL East or West, in those divisions even if one team falls off (Padres or Braves) another team or two could make a huge run and still win the division with 90 some wins. In our case if STL goes on a drought and we dont we are in great shape.
