Big crowds again for the Cards series

    From John Fay:

The Reds project crowds of 37,000-plus for the Monday-Tuesday games and 35,000-plus for the Wednesday game vs. St. Louis next week at Great American Ball Park, Reds senior vice president of business operations Karen Forgus said.

The Monday and Tuesday games start at 7:10 p.m., the Wednesday game at 12:35 p.m.

“We are expecting a playoff atmosphere and a lot of excitement,” Forgus said.

Forgus said ticket sales for the games are running 30 to 50 percent above normal for a typical August weekday series. Typical crowds for August weekday series would be in the middle to upper 20,000s, Forgus said.

If the Reds fare well this weekend in Chicago, that should also boost crowds for the St. Louis series. Regardless, sellouts or near-sellouts seem certain.

It's going to be hot but dry next week. Hopefully the humidity isn't too bad, and hopefully if the weather looks good then walk-ups could sell the series out.

I've already got tickets for Monday and plan to see the Priss get knocked around.

I wonder if there's any chance they toss out a nice, shiney unmudded ball for his warmup tosses? Or perhaps a sign that says Priss likes dirty balls.

I've got my tickets for Monday as well.

Time to take care of things in Chicago and get on with the business of smacking Christina Carpenter around.

I wish I could go on Monday. Those should be sellout games.

Arroyo. Reds rotation for the series is Leake, Cueto and Arroyo.

Wow...then Wed should be really good. Arroryo always seems to be tough against the Cards. Wainwright goes for the Cards on Wed.

We get their 3 best and they get our worst starter.

    Happens.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Could this be the biggest and most important series in the short history of Great American Ball Park?

    I think so.

Without a doubt in my mind. In my book this will be #1 and the August '06 Cards series will be #2.
"He looked like a surfer kid from SoCal," manager Dusty Baker says. "He didn't say much, but you could tell he was cool."

I hope both the Reds and Cards make it to the NLCS. Now that could be the beginning of a great rivalry.
