    Reds stats through 110 games

7-3 stretch, 62-48 record, .5 games ahead of Cards. 539/457 RS/RA. Reds are 33-23 at home and 29-25 on the road. Springer up, Fisher down, then Springer DL'd and Fisher back up. Cabrera on DL, Francisco up. Votto missed a couple of games with injury, but now back.

In NL, records of six team all drawing closer together - Reds, Cards, Pads, Giants, Braves, Phils all closely bunched. Winning PCTs for these teams range from .583 (Pads) to .560 (Phils and Cards) with the Giants, Braves and Reds in between.

Offense - Reds regain top spot in NL with .775 OPS and .438 SLG, both higher than last time. OBP remains .337, third in NL. BA up to .272, leads league, improved from last time. Reds still lead league in runs and hits by healthy margins.

Some other random offensive stats. Reds tied for 9th-10th in league with 348 walks. Reds 3rd in league with 42 HBP. Reds 7th in league with 65 stolen bases and 11th in league with 68 percent stolen base percentage. Reds are fourth in league with 36 sac flies. Reds are 10th in league with 44 sacrifice hits (basically, sac bunts).

Phillips' slump is history, now at .290 BA and .810 OPS. Leading off, with .345 OBP. Heisey playing regularly in CF now, with .294 BA and .925 OPS in 102 official at bats. Stubbs, slumping, has been out of the lineup. Votto still leading NL in major categories such as BA (.322) and still with OPS over 1.000. Janish, now at SS for injured Cabrera, with OPS of .848 so far.

Pitching - Continued improvement over the season, now Reds team ERA is 4.00 improved from 4.13 last time and now tied for 7th-8th in NL. Starting pitching improved from 4.11 to 4.03, ninth best in league. Bullpen now at 3.96, with huge improvement over last 20 games from 4.48. Pen ERA now eighth best in NL.

Reds pitchers with 720 Ks, 14th best in league. Indicates that defense is helping pitchers who do not K batters in large numbers. Batting average against Reds pitchers is .254, fifth best in league, despite relatively few strikeouts. Also points to good defense.

Other random stats: Reds allow sixth most walks in the league with 377 and OBP against them in middle of the pack (8th in league) at .327. Reds have allowed 106 home runs, sixth most in league. OPS against is .723, eighth in league, much lower than team's offensive OPS of .775.

Arroyo now 12-6 with 3.83 ERA and Cueto 11-2 with 3.24. Travis Wood 2-1 with stellar 2.42 ERA so far. Cordero now has saved 30-36, many of them nail biters.

Defense - Reds with only two errors in last ten games, now at 42, second fewest in league, with excellent .990 FPCT. Only Giants have fewer errors. Team DER now second best to Giants in NL. Reds have allowed 49 stolen bases, fourth fewest in league. Cards have allowed fewest steals with 33.
