My last two days have sucked, and it's because of the Cincinnati Reds.
How awesome is that? Back to back days in August and the Reds are good enough that what they do actually has an effect on my life. With the exception of maybe 2006, I've never been able to say since I've become a Reds fan.
We've played HORRIBLE the last two days, especially today. The Cardinals are a good team, but we've let the stage get to us the last two days. It's clear that our young guys weren't ready for primetime, and that's fine.
Think of how many guys on the roster right now have never been in a series anywhere near this big:
Cueto
Fisher
Leake
Ondrusek
Smith
Volquez
Hanigan
Francisco
Bruce
Votto
Janish
Stubbs
Heisey
and you can even make an argument for Bray and Phillips who were here in 2006.
That's 15 of the 25 guys on the roster who've never been here before. Can you blame them for letting it to get into their head a little bit?
I absolutely love what Brandon Phillips did. He wasn't going to take the Cardinals crap, nor should he. Sure, he's played like crap, but he'll get his hits, he'll be fine.
Going back and watching the brawl, I just felt proud to be a Reds fan. Watching Phillips, Rolen, and even Dusty getting into with the CARDINALS was awesome to see.
We've a doormat for far too long. This team showed me today it has the right attitude to win this division. I promise you that you'll see a better preformance against the Cardinals in the Central.
For all the trash talking done, for how bad we've looked the last two days, for all the crap I've seen from the Cardinals fans, if we win tomorrow the Cardinals are getting on a plane in second place.
Take a deep breath, everybody relax, and lets go get them tomorrow.
