It's a little odd to me that Cozart has batted second nearly every day in that lineup. I mean, that's OK. But it's not like he's a high-OBP guy, and it's not like Louisville is short on hitters. You almost have to wonder if it's related to Dusty's penchant for hitting the SS in the 2-hole.
Otherwise, doesn't Valaika seem like a better choice? He doesn't have Cozart's speed or stolen-base skill, but he gets on base a little more and is generally regarded as a better hitter. You'd think he'd at least get an occasional shot at the top of the order. Whatever, I guess.

Valaika's OBP isn't much higher than Cozarts, despite his average being higher. Cozart has double the walks.
DSL Reds won 2-1 in a 6 Inning game. Sanchez had 1 of the 2 hits for the Reds.
18 year old RH De Los Santos got the complete game win (8-1) Lowering his ERA to 2.01 in 13 starts.
Cozart has been leading the league in runs scored for quite a while. While that says something about the guys hitting behind him, he must be doing something right, right?
Good point. It's not a biggie. Just seems like, with Valaika hitting over. 300 for most of the season, you'd think he'd get some shots at the top of the order. I'd also think that they'd want to take a look at Cozart in different parts of the order. He could easily be a 7- or 8-hole hitter in the big leagues. You'd think he might see a glimpse of that, anyway.
But, hey, I'd be the last guy to question Rick Sweet. I think very highly of him.
K, K, groundout for Jukich in the 1st.

Wow - it did not take long for the Bats to break the no hits with runners in scoring position streak!
BTW, I heard on the pre-game show that the Bats will be giving away Corky Miller posters on the 28th!

Sweet is being very conservative in deciding to send runners home tonight
