Joey Votto is currently leading the NL at .320 with several other guys right on his tail. Omar Infante is playing with his hair on fire and is at .344 but does not have enough plate appearances to qualify. Currently, Infante has 322 PA’s and needs 502 PA’s to qualify for the batting title. The Braves have 40 games left and Infante bats lead off so he should easily get another 160+ PA’s. Did you know there is a rule that if a player finishes the season shy of PA’s for a batting title (let’s say 10 at bats short), MLB will give him an 0 for 10 and if Infante still has the highest batting average he would win the title? I didn’t.

I called Infante the worst all-star selection ever but he’s playing like an all-star since he became a regular. With all the Votto triple crown talk (or anyone else in the NL) I just don’t see it happening with Infante around. It's possible though. If he hits .300 the rest of the way he would finish around .314 BA.
