Votto. Alonso, Bruce in the middle of the lineup. Pretty hard not to like that.

    Goya or doug,

any word on Alonso's OF defense? Is it greater than or equal to the defensive prowess of Gomes?

Can he go back to the AFL? I'd like to see them sink/swim with him in LF thru the rest of the season and thru the AFL and see if they can't make it work with both him & Votto in the lineup.

The DSL Reds evened their semifinal playoff series against the league-best Cubs, 3-2. Eliezer Beard with the start, Eury Cantalizo with three scoreless innings of relief, and first baseman Carlos Sanchez with the deciding 2-run HR. The rubber game is tomorrow, with the finals to start Tuesday.

Henry Rodriguez is 3 for 4 for Dayton, which leads 7-6 in the seventh. Daniel Renken is now on in relief of Clayton Shunick.

It's a huge game tonight for the AZL Reds. It's their last game of the regular season, and it appears that, if they win, they will finish in at least a tie for the wildcard berth. They're currently tied with the Dodgers, a game ahead of the Royals and A's. The Reds have won five in a row.
