    Chapman Up Early this Week?

    From Jeff Passan's twitter:

#Reds source: Team plans to call up Aroldis Chapman and his 105-mph fastball Monday or Tuesday. Pre-Sept. 1 call makes him playoff eligible.

I could see it -especially if Rhodes' Plantar Facitis (Sp?) is going to be a nagging issue.

I hope he comes up in time to get a little work against the Brewers before we head to St. Louis. As far as Arthur, I don't think the foot is what is troubling him. Thom and Brantley kept harping on it today but I wasn't seeing it. He just wasn't making pitches. Relievers go through that sometimes. Not that it's not hurting him, but I don't think it is what is causing him to pitch poorly over the last couple of outings.

It's official. He's heading to Cincinnati. He'll be activated prior to tomorrow's game.

I saw it on Reds Live.

Bats trainer, Tomas Vera, is heading up with Chapman. He's been his translator.

    Can I ask why?

Baker, Price, Hernandez, Cordero, Cabrera, Lopez the BP Catcher and Cairo all speak fluent Spanish.

To translate for him in interviews and press conferences?

Article on Chapman from the Reds website.

Eventually, Chapman will return to starting, but for now his work in the bullpen has allowed him to concentrate on his fastball and slider. His repertoire also features a changeup, but the pitch is primarily used when he starts a game, appears in long relief or faces a predominantly right-handed-hitting lineup.

He is going to be a trainer for the Reds too. But I guess he has become good friends with Chapman and is going to help him in his transition to Cincinnati as a companion of sorts. Chapman's English is supposedly improved a lot but is still very poor.

Gotta remember chapman is 22 and has only known his team mates and american baseball for a few months. Its probably a lot easier for him if he has someone Dusty and those guys can come to and get a feel for him first instead of going straight to him.
