    Wednesday 09/01/2010 Minor League Updates

The Cincinnati Reds have made a host of player transactions impacting their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to tonight's game against Birmingham.

Three Mudcats were promoted to Triple-A Louisville following last night's game. OF Luis Terrero, IF Mike Costanzo and LHP Joe Krebs were all moved to the Bats for their post-season run.

Meanwhile, RHP Daryl Thompson has been activated from the disabled list and will start Thursday night's road finale against the Barons. Also, OF Kyle Day and IF Shane Carlson have been promoted to the Mudcats from High-A Lynchburg. All are expected to be in uniform tonight.

    From the Bats facebook:

    ‎9/1 Lineup:
    Sappelt CF
    Cozart SS
    Dorn 1B
    Balentien RF
    Frazier LF
    Mesoraco C
    Terrero DH
    Costanzo 3B
    Negron 2B
    Jukich P

Alonso and Fisher were recalled by Reds, while Miller had his contract purchased by Reds. Bats activated Burton from DL and Luis Terrero and Mike Costanzo are added from Carolina.

Mudcats are going with Scott Carroll tonight. He's 3-9 with a very respectable 3.64 ERA.
He's up against James Leesman, a Cincinnati native no less. Leesman spent the first half of the season in Winston-Salem...with good numbers.

Zack Cozart just hit one about 425-430 feet to make it 3-0 Bats.

In the final game of the DSL championship series, the DSL Reds came up short, losing 8-5 to the Giants.

The Reds' usually staunch pitching betrayed them a bit in the series. 19-year-old Eliezer Beard, a 6-4 righthander, took the fall today in an uncharacteristically rocky start. The bright spot was 18-year-old reliever Jose Munoz: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K. No hitting stars for the good guys. Their main man, 19-year-old first baseman Carlos Sanchez, was 1 for 3.

Mesoraco missed a slam by two feet as he doubled high off the wall. 5-0 Bats, Frazier tagged out at home.

6-0 now as a chopper gets over a drawn in infield. Bats trying all they can to put this one away big time here in the 6th.
