Bats just lost 4 - 1. Columbus is losing 6 - 1. If they don't pull off a huge rally, they will be .5 back in the division with 2 games left to play! Syracuse is tied 1 -1 in the 6th. If Syracuse loses, the Bats clinch a playoff spot.

Rochester puts up 6 (so far) in the bottom of the 7th to take a 7 -2 lead over Syracuse!
Jordan Hotchkiss had a nice start (6 IP, 4 H, 2 R), but the Carolina bullpen (namely, Lee Tabor and Gilbert De La Vara), honoring a season-long tradition, set fire to the late innings, giving up seven runs in the final two. The loss was 10-5. Jake Kahaulelio's three hits included a HR.
Neftali Soto, finishing strong, has hit his 20th and 21st home runs and added a double. He's driven in all four runs as Lynchburg leads 4-2 after eight. Justin Walker and Jeff Jeffords have pitched well.
Soto, by the way, is third in the Carolina League in home runs. The two guys ahead of him, Tyler Moore and Seth Loman, are two and three years older than he is, respectively.
Dayton leads 7-4 after eight. Home runs for Mark Fleury and Alexis Oliveras. Frank Pfister is 3 for 4. Ronald Torreyes is 0 for 5. Tim Crabbe had 7 K in 5.2 IP.
A HR by catcher Chris Berset, whose profile shot looks an awful lot like Ryan Hanigan, puts Billings up 1-0 after two. Daniel Tuttle has fanned four.
Soto is still for real. 21 year old. Great candidate for big time breakout next season.
Syracuse lost, as did Columbus! The Bats have clinched a playoff spot!
The Carolina bullpen has been terrible all year, but in the defense of Tabor, he's learning a new arm angle on the fly. Still no excuse for how bad he or the rest of the Mudcats have been all year long.
Christiani gave up an unearned run in the ninth, but closed it out for Lynchburg, 4-3.

Blaine Howell--good pitcher--finishes it for Dayton, 7-5.
Daniel Tuttle had a short but good start (4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K), but Kevin Arico gave up six runs without getting an out. Billings trails 7-4 in the seventh.
No Yorman or Hamilton tonight. Does that mean anything?
Billings gives up 6 runs in the 5th innings now down 7-4. Not a very good night by Arico!!!
Tuttle 4 IP - 3 Hits - 0 ER - 3 BB - 6 K
Arico 0 IP - 5 Hits - 6 ER - 1 BB - 0 K
Sorry (Mace) didn't know you were posting the update for Billings
