All of this just proves that every game during the season does in fact mean something.

I had already accepted the fact that the Reds would be playing the Phillies in the NLDS... then the Braves and Giants lost on Friday and Saturday and I got my hopes up that we might avoid Philly in the NLDS. Now it's back to looking like the Reds will face the Phillies.

This game is over. With the Padres offense, this game might as well be 6-0. Reds will open in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Come on, OBM. How many times have you given up. Heck, you gave up several times when the Cardinals were behind 2-3 runs behind other teams and quite often they wound up losing those games.

The Padres aren't done yet. This game is far from over. I have a feeling they'll have one more run in them. Whether or not it's enough is another story. But we'll soon see.

Wait, aren't you the same guy who was constantly declaring games over with in the game threads?

The Padres offense stinks and Sanchez is on his game today. I'll be shocked if the Padres come back.

For a couple of weeks, yes. Some of it was a reverse jinx attempt, other times I didn't feel it.

The Pads' offense isn't very good, but they've been on top of their game lately when they've largely needed it the most. I disagree about sanchez being on his game though. His command has been bad (as much if not more than usual). He's walked four guys already. If he can get through this inning without any damage, that might be big for them.

But I'm not gonna write SD off just yet.

Padres now have 2 runners on with no outs in the 6th after a walk to Ludwick.
