Only eight* players from the list won't be eligible for next season's rankings:
    Mike Leake
    Travis Wood
    Chris Heisey
    Matt Maloney
    Jordan Smith
    Pedro Viola#
    Logan Ondrusek
    Sam LeCure*

    * - LeCure hasn't yet lost his rookie status for 2011, but he is only 8.2 IP away from doing so.
    # - Pedro Viola is currently in the Orioles' organization.

I'd throw Jordan Hotchkiss, Daniel Corcino, and Ismael Guillon on the list of big risers with Sappelt, Mesoraco and my sleeper Kris Negron.

I wouldn't go with any of those guys for the simple reason that some people believed in all of them. Heck, Hamilton was a Top 10 Reds prospect coming into the season.

I would say Ronald Torreyes, coming from no one knowing he existed to hitting incredibly well all year, Jonathan Correa is another guy who no one knew about before the season started. Those two guys are clearly ahead of anyone else in my mind because they went from absolutely unknown to likely Top 40 prospects.

Those are all good names in this derby. I was going to disagree somewhat with Corcino, because I thought he was highly regarded last year as an 18-year-old closing games in Billings. But I see that he wasn't in the top 40. (Another reason I always think we need to go to 50.)

I'll add one more guy: Kyle Lotzkar. Nobody doubted his ability, but his health was a serious question at this time last year. He has dispelled that, to a significant degree, with some dominant starts late in the season.

Anyway, it all begs a question. Who, on last year's to 40, will disappear from the list this year? (Among those still eligible, that is.)

I'd say Silva is the only definite (big surprise to me). But some guys on the bubble, to varying degrees, are Fellhauer, Serrano, Del Rosario and Cline; and possibly Rojas, Valor, Klinker, Sulbaran, Tuttle and Thurman (for health reasons only).
