I think the quick hook is often a mistake, especially when a guy has been having a great game. Clearly Wood is getting hit now, so I think it's time to plan for other alternatives if the Reds want to stay in this game.
I don't think my calls have been premature at all. Up until the last few days I think Dusty has been too patient with his starting pitchers. And he hasn't seemed to be prepared with bullpenners when guys go bad in about the sixth inning.

In the last few days, I think Dusty has done much better, has managed like it's a pennant race. He's used his pen well, except of course for some overreliance on Cordero.

Well it's clear these guys ain't denting the plate tonight against Hudson. Go get 'em tomorrow.

Uh and you saw what using the bullpen did against Pittsburgh. That's the point... having a quick hook in a pennant race is NOT always the right answer. You sometimes have to use the judgment to stick with a starting pitcher through a rough patch because there's no guarantee the replacement will come in and do better. There's no guarantee he'll even do as good.
