Who ends up with Edmonds' spot?

    On the NLDS roster?

Assuming Edmonds can't make it back from the injury in time (whatever it is),
    who inherits his spot?

Assuming 11 pitchers, I'd think it would have to be Francisco.

So maybe Alonso really needs to go ballistic tonite.

I would take 12 pitchers and 13 position players.

That's assuming Nix will be ready to go.

I think the Reds will go with:

    Bronson
    Cueto
    Homer
    Volquez
    Wood
    LeCure
    Rhodes
    Co-Co
    Chapman
    Bray
    Massett

With a tough decision between Logan and Aaron for the last spot. Logan has earned it, but I really think the Reds will "feel" that Aaron deserves it since he has been here so long.

I think Ondrusek will be there before LeCure, but hopefully over Harang.

They can't get sentimental on this.

Harang been done for awhile. LeCure or Ondrusek has to be the choice, IMO.

I agree, but sports is like that, you have player X who was your horse for X number of bad seasons and now you are in the playoff hunt and this is how you reward him. Plus I think they think he can contribute.

you have to have a long man in case a game gets out of hand and LeCure can be that guy.

Re: Who ends up with Edmonds' spot?

Much as I'd like to see it, I don't think Harang will be on the active roster. He hasn't pitched since one inning in relief on the 14th. If they were considering him for the pen he'd be getting more opportunities. I think the pitchers will be:
    Arroyo
    Cueto
    Volquez
    Bailey
    Wood
    Cordero
    Masset
    Rhodes
    Chapman
    Ondrusek
    Bray
    Smith if they take 12

    Hitters will be:
    Votto, Phillips, Cabrera, Rolen
    Hannigan, Hernandez
    Janish, Cairo
    Bruce, Stubbs, Gomes, Heisey, Nix
and Fransisco if they take only 11 pitchers

I don't trust Harang as far as I can throw him.

I want to win. That's more important to me personally than rewarding past success.

To quote you calling me out about Joey and his sinus problems in another thread, last time I checked "it's a team sport." Why would you hurt the team's chances to make a sentimental point but not to allow Joey potentially be with his team when they clinch?

Win a ring and send one to him after the fact like the Colts did with Edgerrin James when he got traded in 2006.

    True dat.

Plus, I think the Reds have rewarded Harang enough already.

To the tune of ~ $40M.

Yes it is a team sport and Aaron has been a HUGE part of this team for the past what like 5- 6 seasons and for a fair amount of those the only pitcher whom the Reds could look at as stopper on days he pitched. Again, I wouldn't carry him, but I bet the Reds will.

Harang should be the 1st option out of the pen for a bit to see if he can handle it, no since on wasting a spot in the post season if he sucks in the pen too
