It's a pretty good list.

My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!
I see that music from before I was born is well represented...
There are a ton of talented bands still out there. Regardless, guitar solo's are a bit anachronistic so it stands to reason that a list of "the greatest" is going to feature music older music.
Personally, I think the list needs a little J Mascis
YouTube - Raisans - Dinosaur Jr.
School's out. What did you expect?

Interesting you say that. Driving my daughter to school and talking about rock, we had this conversation.
We trade off playing songs on the car stereo while driving and I played "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and we talked about Clapton and Hendix and other rock "gods". She said most guitar solos are macho sexist b.s. and her generation is past all that. I said "hmmmmm, you may have a point" while feeling a little stupid and a lot old.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning
Great guitar solos from after my birth in which the guitarists actually play their guitars:
YouTube - Queens Of The Stone Age - A Song For The Dead
Josh Homme plays with John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl now. Probably could/should have picked a Kyuss clip but I'm more familiar with QotSA.
YouTube - 2. Paranoid Android
I don't even particularly like Radiohead but they deserve a mention.
YouTube - Rage Against The Machine: Know Your Enemy
Tom Morello gets unheard-of sounds out of his guitar.
YouTube - The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream - Geek U.S.A.
Billy Corgan plays all of the other instruments during the recording too.
YouTube - The White Stripes Ball and Biscuit
And Jack White gets flashy for once...
Metallica only 1 mention? Travesty.

Help stamp out, eliminate, and do away with redundancy.
No BB King? Robert Johnson? Django Reinhardt?
Okay, not rock and roll. Fair enough.
But no Robbie Robertson? He might be the best rock guitarist of all time.
Vai and Satriani also could rightfully complain.
