    Jim Palmer and Pete Richert combined on a five-hitter for the Orioles, who took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Series. Bernie Carbo was called out at home by home plate umpire Ken Burkhart on a play in which Orioles catcher Elrod Hendricks tagged Carbo with the mitt but held the ball in his right hand.

    This is also a series that I never got the opportunity to watch, since my local affiliate was the midst of Tribe Fever, and decided to carry the ALCS instead of the NLCS.
