    Daryl Thompson Re-Signed

Thompson was due to become a free agent, but the Reds managed to get him to stick around on a minor league contract. Considering his upside, you really have to like this. He's a huge rebound candidate.

Thompson is not a guy I would even count on for any kind of a role, but IF and this is a huge IF.... if he is healthy, he was very solid. Always interesting to see these types of moves from a team and player standpoint.

Could be an interesting bullpen candidate.
I hope it's never sunny in Philly again.

Kinda knew this was gonna happen before the season ended but kinda forgot to report it. I could see him going back to Carolina or to Louisville depending on the need.

Surprising. I thought after this past season, he would be moving on.

Saw this in Baseaball America. Nice low risk gamble. If he can rebound its more depth, if not, nothing lost.

Reds must have promised him an AFL spot. He's now on the Reds AFL roster.

You think this could be the year that he moves to the bullpen? I would not mind him starting in the Bats pen this year and see how it goes from there.

    Thompson with another good outing. 4 IP, 3H, 2BB, 6K, 0ER.

    His line in the AFL:

    12 IP, 6H, 5BB, 12K, 1ER.

Thompson turned 25 yesterday. He could still be a useful arm for the Reds pen. He's had 5 or 6 days between outings and a long stint of 4 IP, so we need to see if he can stretch out or bounce back on consecutive days before saying he coud fill any role, but this has been promising IMO.

Anyone think he gets a 40 man spot?

Yes. I think he's exactly the kind of high value low risk target someone will go after.

I hadn't considered him much back in the summer, but I agree. He'd probably be picked in Rule 5.
