Have you seen the man throw? Besides he played 97 at DH, didnt play the field that much, possibly for a reason?

Besides, the Reds kicked those tires last year and the price was much too high.

who would take care of the bad defense if you bring Damon in? Over the hill, doesnt play field much anymore, and never had an arm.

Scott Podsednik is Ryan Freel all over again--while this isn't necessarily a terrible thing, I have my sight set a bit higher.

Still an upgrade over Gomes in the field. But that isn't saying much as 99% of outfielders in league are an upgrade over Gomes in the field.

    Damon UZR150 in 2010 4.3, Career -5.6
    Gomes UZR150 in 2010 -19.1, Career -18.0

But yes, I do agree his offensive numbers are on the decline, but still decent. 2010 he hit .271 with OBP .355 OPS .756. You've got to believe they will go down in 2011 at the age of 37.

If he doesn't have to go to Korea and serve time in their military for 2 years, I would try and make a trade with Cleveland for Shin-Soo Choo (22 HR's, 90 RBI, 22 SB's, .300 batting average, .401 OBP) to be our leadoff hitter. Look at the OBP and he can steal bases. He's also a lefty and decent arm in the OF.

Another guy they could trade for is Angel Pagan of the Mets. He's 29, hit .290 with an OBP of .340 this past season, while stealing 37 bases. Had 31 doubles, 7 triples, 11 HR's, scored 80 runs for a crummy Mets team, switch-hits.......and could be our future leadoff hitter? He's headed to arbitration this offseason though.

Or a Yankee they could trade for is 27 year old Brett Gardner who batted .277 with an OBP of .383 and 47 SB's. Doesn't have much power or hit many extra base hits. He had only 1 error in 150 games.

    I'm looking for a leadoff hitter/ tablesetter.

If we hadn't had Adam Dunn for six years we would be talking about getting him.

All 3 of those would be great additions, I just don't see the Indians trading their star away even if they are rebuilding. The other two are possibilities, with Pagan probably being a little more realistic.

Wonder if a swap of bad contracts for Carlos Beltran could be talked about between the Mets and Reds.
