    How about Melky Cabrera?

The Braves released the 26 year old OFer today. He had a line of .255/4/42 in 115 games this year.

Anyone have any confidence he could find some productivity in GABP?

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

    Heck no.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Theres a reason he went from being untouchable to being traded for Vazquez to being released after just 1 season with the Braves... He's not as good as everyone thought.

He did provide us with this little beauty. I was at that game. So funny.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

Same as when he was with the Yankees and some people wanted him. N.O.

I was about to bring that up at soon as I saw this thread. I was there with a buddy who was a Braves fan which made the play all the better. :thumbdown to Melky!

320, thanks for bringing up that video. I was also at that game and it was one of my favorite Reds' memories of this summer and how I will forever remember the "Melk Man."

OTOH, he would immediately become the new RZ Whipping Boy tm. So at least he'd provide some value!

Ah, the RZ whipping boy of the year nominations: Gomes, OC, and Stubbs early on, with an honorable mention of Bruce early on too.

He has good bench value, but if he's your everyday center fielder (let alone left fielder), you're probably in trouble. Signing Cabrera to play every day would be the equivalent to signing Taveras. Sure, at his best, he's not bad--but his ceiling isn't very high, and his floor is very low.
