It's also the date Joel McCrea died.
It was also Jose Rijo's father-in-law's 53rd birthday.
I refuse to believe that was 20 years ago. I remember it clearly like it was a few days before yesterday.
My daughter Jen was born during the 1990 NLCS. And when the Reds won the WS, we had just gotten her to go to sleep so when Benzinger caught that pop-up, I had to silently cheer.
Just drove over to Athens on Sat. to celebrate Jen's 20th birthday where she is a sophomore at OU. Tempus sure does fugit.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning
I was with my family in the Embassy Suites hotel downtown. When the final out was recorded the city went nuts. I slept in my Reds cap that night

I was in Oakland and it was great to watch them all sulk for days.
Luckily they won it on a Saturday night. Me and a bunch of friends from Indy drove down to Cincy and watched the game at Barleycorns on the river across from the stadium. The celebration on Fountain Square afterwards was quite fun!!
I hope to do it again one day.

That was my earliest childhood memory. I was just over 6 months old but I screamed like the dickens when Benzinger snagged that pop up.

The World Series ending on October 20?

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
I had a chance to go to game 2 (the Billy Bates game).
I worked at a baseball card shop at the time, and the owner went to quite a few games. At the same time, however, I was going to school at Bowling Green State University. Tony had scored some tickets and thought about taking me along...but didn't want to bother me. DOH!
