Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell has been offered the managerial job in Toronto, multiple industry sources told Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com. Now the 48-year-old and the Blue Jays must work to come to an agreement on a contract.

He's been one of, if not the top managerial candidate for years, but he was under contract with the BoSox, who never let him interview.

Very good move by the Jays. Will make things interesting in the AL East.

Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell indicated in a text message a few moments ago that "Nothing is official" yet as far as his new job managing the Toronto Blue Jays.

Contractual issues are likely being worked out. It's not known whether the Red Sox have made any last minute attempt to keep Farrell, or whether there are any restrictions on who Farrell can take with him to Toronto for coaches, but all signs still point to Farrell managing the Jays.
