I guess the thread title says it all. The Reds now have one of the ten longest World Series droughts. As someone who grew up as a baseball fan in the 1970s, it is shocking to see the teams that make up the list:
Of the 20 World Series appearances that were made during the decade of the 70s, 15 of them were made by the Reds (4), Dodgers (3), A's (3), Orioles (3), and Pirates (2). All five of those franchise are in this top ten list. A sixth team, the Royals, were in the ALCS for three straight seasons from 1976-78.Code:TEAM YEARS Chicago (N) 65 Washington 41 Seattle 33 Pittsburgh 30 Milwaukee 27 Baltimore 26 Kansas City 24 Los Angeles (N) 21 Oakland 19 Cincinnati 19
The Dodgers made two more World Series appearances in the 80s, while the A's made three. It's strange growing up with these teams as fixtures in the World Series and now seeing them go decades without playing in one.
