    Good start for Evan Turner

For you OSU fans and/or quasi NBA fans, Evan Turner shook off a rough camp (and summer for that matter) with a solid debut off the bench this evening against Miami.

16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and only two turnovers in 31 minutes. He was 7-of-10 from the field.

I think he's going to be a fine offensive player at this level. I know his jumper still needs a lot of work, especially off the dribble, but in the league, if you can beat people off the dribble, you already have a leg up since teams primarily play man defense (and sometimes lazy at that).

I think Philadelphia will be better putting him at point slowly, and letting him evolve.

I was able to watch thanks to a free first week of the NBA pass.

He looked good and at times it seemed like the 76ers were letting him run things. It won't be long before he's a top NBA player imo. Guys his size that can handle the point, get good penetration while being a threat to score or pass the ball along with playing good defense will always become stars as long as they can shoot from the outside at a average rate. He's likely to be the complete package.

We'll see how far that takes him.As long as the desire is there and he can stay healthy the sky is the limit.

I don't think he'll do much in the NBA, but we will see. If he can keep the turnovers down then he may be a solid player, but otherwise I don't see it.

LeBron James turns the ball over at a prodigious pace. In fact, he was 4th highest in the league in turnovers last season. Obviously he's in a league of his own, but my point is... there's a lot more to basketball than just turnovers. Turner is a potential PG that can pass, get to the basket and rebound extremely well for his position. There's an enormous amount of value in that.

Guys that can break down a defender and get to the rim, while having tremendous court awareness and being able to rebound... they tend to have success in the NBA, especially when they're playing point.

He's tailor made to do well. It's not a sure thing, and no question his handle will have to continue to get better, but I'll be surprised if he isn't at least a solid 10-year vet that starts most of his career.

I don't see Turner as a star, but I think he's got a very good chance to be a Battier type player. Won't put up stats, but will help you win games.

All of last year and even the year before, I kept saying that Evan would make a great NBA player and I still think he will. Definitely still needs some polishing, but he is a guy that the 76ers can build around.

Turner will never be "the guy", but he's a real good second option on most teams.

It has to make the Sixers sick to think how close they got to drafting the next transcendent NBA talent.

Remember this quote from the combine... "I was the national player of the year, not John Wall."

Damn!! Jodie Meeks is drinking Evan Turner's milkshake right now! Meeks playing really well for Sixers. 40 mins tonight for Jodie ... Only 6 for Turner.

This is from last week... Tied a Sixers record with 20 in the quarter...

It looks to me like Turner is trying to adjust to not having the ball in his hands all the time. The last two seasons at OSU he did a good majority of the PG play and was always there to create one on one. That is not what he's doing in Philly and he looks lost sometimes.

John Wall and Demarcus Cousins aren't exactly lighting up anything right now. Cousins is an embarrassment.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Are you obsessed with Cousins or something? How did he get dragged into this thread? UC fans talking about embarrassing basketball players does make me laugh a bit though.

As for John Wall, averaging 16 pts. 9 assists and 2.5 steals per game as a rookie is pretty damn awesome. Sorry your irrational hate won't let you see and recognize that.

You brought Jodie Meeks into the discussion. I'd say most people would agree you opened up the can of worms.
