    Wednesday 8-3-11 Minor League Updates

It's the Rehab Special for the AZL Reds today. 2-3-4 in the order: Rojas-Denove-Francisco.

Also, Bryson Smith, 34th-rounder out of Florida, is making his debut in CF. And Jose Amezcua is getting his first work of the season as the starting pitcher.

    3-0 Reds after one.

. . . And Amezcua is done. He went one inning (one hit).

Am I the only one who's not understanding the 3 digit line? 4-2-3? 3-2-2?

    At bats, hits...runs?

Sorry. The first three columns in the box score: AB, R, H.

You know, the fourth column used to be RBIs, but no more.

Juan Duran hit a solo HR in the 3rd inning for Dayton. Dragons go up 1-0. Billy Hamilton got picked off/caught stealing to end the inning.

For those that remember him, is it fair to say Juan Duran = Samone Peters + hit tool?

Another HR for Soto. #23 in only 282 atbats. I'd like to see him bumped to Louisville.

    Few notes on some guys.

Ronald Torreyes has a walk and no strikeouts tonight. That puts him at 10 walks and 10 strikeouts through 179 PA's this season.

Yasmani Grandal is 0-2 with 2 strikeouts tonight. He now has 28 strikeouts and 7 walks in 112 PA's at the level. Any concern here?

Doubt it. He had a 5 walk game at the previous level... his K rate has been fairly high throughout, but I'd say the lack of walks is more due to escaping the hitter's bonanza of Bakersfield and seeing tougher pitches. I imagine he'll adjust soon.

Mitchell Clarke has done well at Dayton since his callup. Tonight, 1 R in 5.1 IP. Dragons lead 3-2 in the eighth.
