Was wondering about this. Thanks, OBM.

    Make way for Torreyes.

That's a nice validation for Torreyes, after the dazzling season he had. His time should be fast-approaching on our top-40 list. And I think David Vidal is a guy who has sort of eluded our notice on this board. He appears to be a prospect. Any word on whether he was instructed in catching?

    Vidal?

He hit .172 in Billings and .154 in Dayton. His fielding stats make Francisco look like Brooks Robinson.

He had a combined 51 plate appearances in those two stops, 42 ABs. Most of his season was spent in the AZL, where he had an .892 OPS. That was just out of junior college. Can't speak to his defense, but there was talk of trying him as a catcher.

And his PAs in AZL totaled only 162. Dominic D'Anna and Jaren Matthews had OPS over 1.000 for the AZL Reds.

He's hitting .154 in Puerto Rico. To his credit, he can take a BB. His OBP there is .313.

I'm not a Vidal apologist or president of his fan club or any such thing. It just seemed like he was one of the more potent hitters in Arizona this year. D'Anna and Matthews are a year older. I don't know the circumstances, but the Reds apparently thought enough of Vidal to promote him in his first season. Twice.

All things considered, he's a guy I'll try to keep track of for a while. You're under no obligation in that regard.

I'm not trying to make it a contest. Just to show that he is not an obvious choice for that award. In fact, he's a surprise that hasn't really had much mention here.

Except that the award was for what he did in the Instructional League, not what he did anywhere else.

Cline is anything but written off. His playing time was limited due to injury, but when he played, he was impressive.
