Bud Black named NL Manager of the Year

He beat out Dusty by one point.

Pretty disappointing considering San Diego's collapse which led to them missing the playoffs. I think Dusty was robbed, but I'm biased obviously.

Can't complain. Black did a heck of a job with a tiny payroll, less than half of what Baker had to work with.

But I would have liked Dusty to win. Really stinks that he lost by one vote.

Could it be that the voters actually could see who the better manager actually is?

I'm more surprised that Bruce didn't get it.

Its kind of funny. I still have my old baseball cards and I have a couple of Bud Black cards for some reason.

I think the voters start to make up their minds mid season and sometimes make thier decision before the season ends. Padres had a 10 game losing streak, Black should not have won. When Girardi won, voters made up their minds, before the Marlins poor finish.

This is why I don't think the Red's Central crown, makes and MVP Votto shoe in. Pujols had a monster August, and was the preseason favorite. In September the writers focus on thier own team's division races.

i think well deserved. the padres were considered one of the worst teams in baseball going into the season and end up w/ a chance to win the division on the final weekend pretty remarkable.

Congrats to the dust bucket on his 2nd place finish. Don't know how he would have split it w/ Rolen if he would have won though.

I don't think you're being Biased. I think that San Diego Team collapsed while the Reds could of Collapsed after the St. Louis Sweep.

I hate Dusty has Manager. But!

He didn't let the team go down after the St.Louis Sweep.

Bud Black is a Great Guy, Great Manager, Great Pitching Coach but his team did one thing at the end of the season.

    Collapsed.

The Sportswriters messed this one up Bad.

I am not Biased, because I don't Like Dusty being the Reds Manager.
