    Dan Uggla trade

mlbtraderumors.com reports that the Marlins are looking to trade second baseman Dan Uggla. No way do the Reds go after this guy. Obviously the position of second base is on lockdown with B.P. so he couldn't play second. He wouldn't platoon with Rolen at third, and no way in heck does he play short. Even if we had a vacancy at second his defense is poor, and he strikes out way too often. With the Reds clearly out of the picture where do you think he lands?

On the big boy board they're speculating that Uggla could play left. That would make him a great fit for the Reds if true, especially since he could theoretically fill in at third whenever Rolen needs to sit, essentially turning Gomes into Rolen's backup. A 3/4/5/6 of Votto/Uggla/Bruce/Rolen would be awfully purty. Especially if they also got a SS who could get on base to lead off. Oh, and a pony. I want a pony too.
FIRE DUSTY Never mind. The man is clearly a genius.

I would love to get Uggla for LF or 2b if BP can play SS.

here's an idea, play him at second, move Phillips to SS and BAM there you go.

I just don't think Brandon can play ss anymore. He's been at second for too long. And I really don't see Uggla willing to move to LF.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

    Here's an even better idea.

Move Rolen to LF, Bruce to SS, Uggla to RF, Phillips to 3B, Votto to CF, Janish to 1B, and Stubbs to 2B. BAM!

Rolen in left? BP at 3rd? Huh?

Uggla averages 160 SO per year w/ below average 2B fielding.

    @ ~ $7.8 Mil per.

Uggla to ATL for P Mike Dunn and Omar Infante.

Glad he's not in STL. Feared he'd end up there.

The Braves lineup looks more threatening now. That has some nice pop in it.
