Drayton McLane Enlists New York Banking Firm to Sell Houston Astros

    http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.p...les&Itemid=157

MLB sources have reportedly told FOX 26 in Houston that Allen & Co. will attempt to sell the Astros franchise for $800 million. The deal would include a stake in the newly created regional sports network CSN Houston that sees Comcast and the NBA Houston Rockets as partners. It is unclear what the total split between the Rockets and Astros comes to, but reports have had the two Houston sports properties owning 77.5 percent to Comcast’s 22.5 percent of the RSN.

Where can I send my money to get a piece of this action? LOL. Wish this was about Loria giving away his interest in the Marlins.

The guy is notorious for being a meddler in the front office and forcing his GMs to make some poor decisions, but this bio blog paints a picture of a genuinely good guy. It actually reminds me of another guy who used to own a baseball team in Texas.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Except he actually achieved success, say what you want about "meddling" but when he took over that team they were in their 31st year and probably more of baseball after thought than they were during his reign

Houston was fine until they hired Ed Wade.

Does anybody know of any candidates to buy the team or any more details on the transaction? Obviously Mark Cuban is not one of them.
