I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
In recent memory, Michael Saunders, Franklin Gutierrez, and Ichiro come to mind.
The Mariners one came to mind for me as well. The Twins and Braves both had some really good OFs around 2000 and the Mets have had some recently. The Rays OF in 2009 was pretty ridiculous too
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
when I was growing up the trio of Andre Dawson, Ellis Valentine, and Warren Cromartie had the potential to be the best OF of all-time...didn't exactly work out but they weren't bad
To your inferred point, Rf, if the Reds played Heisey everyday in left, that would be the best defensive OF in baseball.

Did the Reds ever run out?

The Red Sox Outfield in the mid 70's of Dwight Evans, Fred Lynn and Yaz was pretty good.

Yeah, twice, I believe. Once by Dave Miley, and once by Jerry Narron. Both games were wins.

My guess is that it included Mays.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
